Cyrene (alt. Kyrene) is a Greek city located in southeastern Idgypt. Founded in late 7th century BCE by Greek colonists from Thera, where it would come to rule over the region known as Kyrenaika. By the Hellenistic age it alternated between being part of Ptolemaic Idgypt and being the capital of an independent kingdom, as well as becoming an important Jewish center. It would become part of the Roman Republic in 96 BCE, becoming part of the province of Crete et Cyrenaica. It would join the Idgyptian revolt against the Roman Empire somewhere around 24 BCE, briefly becoming a part of Idgypt before the fracturing of the Fourth Intermediate Period left it as an independent kingdom once again. Cyrene and the region of Kyrenaika would join in the newly-formed Idgyptian Empire shortly after it's reunification 1000 years later, becoming a loyal province. Due to it's heavy Roman influence, it it the only province of the empire to be governed by a Roman-style senate as opposed to a more traditional nomarch system. The city would also become known as a bastion of resistance against invaders, holding out against the invading Romans despite all odds.

Another city where I will be attempting to follow the layout of AC Origins as closely as possible. Lucky for me most of the major buildings have already been built by friends (credits below as they are built), I just have to build them on the server. This is the last of the 5 major cities in Idgypt to be started.
