History
The Jorac-class was an advanced single-seat space superiority starfighter produced for the Tilanex Navy in the early stages of the Osphat-Tilanex War, replacing the Nassleir-class as the Tilanex Empire's primary combat strike craft. The ship was initially conceptualized as the Jetta-072 for the Tilanex Defense Office in the Aedos Naval Modernization Initiative, specifically as a bid for section 6.04.2, which asked for a next-generation starfighter able to combat strike craft, have light strike capabilities, and perform recon or ECM operations to support existing strike craft and support craft. Themix Industries had already been working on the Jetta project for five years, having started in 48,774 ACT with the expectation of entering a military contract before the 48,800s. With increasing political tension between the Tilanex Empire and its closest neighbor, the Osphat Canommin Republic, Themix Industries along with the general public expected that conflict would occur between the two nations in the near future, even with pressure from the TAUFOG central government and sector GACIAF forces to deescalate. Themix Industries would submit the Jetta-072 as their competition bid in 48,784 ACT, beating the Posqua I55-Vex to become the Tilanex Navy's next combat interceptor. Development of the final production model had already begun by this point, with Themix Industries hoping to begin fulfilling orders for the navy by 48,796 ACT. The actual date for the first units to be delivered would be ten years later, following both extensive redesigns of the strike craft's ion drives and disruptions caused by targeted strikes on industrial centers and shipyards by the Osphat Navy following the initial conflicts over Fedack 42951B and along the Syi'tollala Way, a major FTL lane which connected much of the Tilanex Empire's core systems. During this period the fighter would receive its final class name, the Jorac, which was an avian ambush predator native to Metli Prime, the site of Themix Industries' headquarters and where most of the design team stayed throughout development.

The Jorac-class was in part inspired by the very successful Tessin-class light fighter produced by Datopala Industrial, as well as GACIAF's Xexon interceptors produced by Zenlian Drives. Both made use of superior maneuverability and mobility in combat to decimate opposition, and Themix Industries intended to offer a strike craft which could take advantage of the Osphat Navy's well known preference for slow but durable ships. The Jorac-class was equipped with twin TY85 Sie light laser cannons, chosen for their high rate of fire and low power draw, which would be a necessary characteristic of many systems due to the ship having relatively little volume for a large reactor. Most of the output from the fighter's reactor had to be reserved for the Jorac's massive ion drive systems. Consisting of a TI VDT-Dascat model ion thruster for primary propulsion, the strike craft also incorporated two TI Tao-99012 Nii secondary ion thrusters, which were integrated into the folding wing structures of the design and provided additional thrust for straight-line acceleration and maneuvering, due to their position away from the center of mass and high gimbal range. One of the main sources of delays for the program was the difficulties engineers faced designing fuel and coolant lines between the reactor core, main fuel tanks in the wings, and secondary ion thrusters, as any connections between the wings and main fuselage had to bend when the wings were folded for storage. Often during repeated flight tests prototype strike craft would experience fuel leaks, which on two occasions resulted in test failures and the loss of a vehicle. Fortunately, these issues were resolved by the 48,800s, with the remaining development time taken up by the missile systems and software completion.

The Jorac-class was received well by the Tilanex Navy, whose outdated Nassleir-class interceptors did not perform well in the early years of the war. The massive advantage Jorac-class fighters had against the Osphat in maneuverability and short-range FTL mobility allowed the Tilanex Empire to establish effective defenses against hostile strikes and mitigate the advantage their opponent had in carrier forces. The navy ordered over 200,000 units during the first five decades of the war, with the total unit volume eventually becoming twice that, at 470,000 Jorac-class strike craft manufactured for the navy. Government funding for the Jorac-class was significant, and with revenue also coming in from the Taorith-class heavy fighter Themix Industries would become the nation's most valuable shipbuilder, passing the Posqua Corporation in the domestic stock market towards the end of 48,922 ACT. Production of the Jorac-class continued in limited numbers following the end of the Osphat-Tilanex War in 48,851 ACT, with Themix Industries selling the fighter internationally as a capable interceptor and recon strike craft. By the end of the Jorac-class's production run, the design composed almost all of the Tilanex Navy's starfighters, with only some Taorith-class ships and a number of other specialized classes remaining as the nation was forced to limit their military size following the war.
