The castle, built around 1262 by Albrecht Kagen, was destroyed four times in the 14th and 15th centuries. Rebuilt around 1430, then enlarged and raised around 1507 by the Uttenheims, it was abandoned at the end of the 16th century. Since 2002, an archaeological excavation and restoration work has been carried out.
A reconstruction work was carried out thanks to the work of a student of the INSA and a heritage architect. This scientific work has allowed me to recreate the castle more simply.
Built at an altitude of 667 metres, Kagenfels is a contemporary of its neighbour Birkenfels, another of my projects.
