KMS Dortmund is a fictional light cruiser of the German Nany, lead ship of her class of 2 cruiser. She was based on the Emden-class light cruiser, meanwhile keeping her 8x1 150mm SK L/45 but removing one of her 88m SK L/45 secondery gun. She carry a 45,000 shp (33097 kW) steam engine whice push her to a speed of 28.7 knots.

She was ordered in 1925, laid down in 1926 and her sister ship later that year. She complete constuction in 1928.

The class consisted of: Dortmund and Trier.
