Level 32 : Artisan Dragon

Welcome to the Kross Cathedral.

I first started building this with the intent of trying to build the Cologne Cathedral in minecraft. It's a magnificent gothic style cathedral. If you've never seen it please look it up. I very highly recommend it.

However, I soon realized how much of a daunting task that would be in such a short time period. I quickly abandoned that idea and tried, instead, to just create my own gothic style cathedral that is very loosely based off of the Cologne Cathedral. I hope you guys like it.

This is my first time downloading a world file. If it doesn't work properly please let me know.

This is my submission for the Monumental Temple-Project Contest 2017.

The patterns are messy but that actually adds to the build rather than looking messy. I like how the front disguises the length of the build and makes it look more imposing.

Thank you! That is one of the features of the Cologne Cathedral that I wanted to capture when I was building it. The fact that the front is large, grand and imposing.

I did most of it by hand, but I used world edit a little just to keep me symmetrical. I'm glad you like it!! Thank you lol. There was a LOT of trial and error with all of the different shapes and stuff I have going on with the roofs, arches, domes and stuff, figuring out the designs I wanted to use for the windows, flooring e.c.t.

Congratulation to you, I think that is one of the most original church I have seen here. I think yours is brilliant because you create a very special space alternating those very colorful windows and strong dark walls and structure.

Oh wow, thank you so much!! I originally tried to copy a real world cathedral, but ended up freestyling it because I didn't think I would have time to commit to the other. I work 10 hour days so I can only really build on the weekends.

Great entrance, very realistic how it indents in, drawing your view to it. The towers do need some work though, I suggest creating one larger tower in the center :) Good luck fellow participant.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. I'll definitely take that into consideration from this point on. Unfortunately this was the last day I had to work on this. I'm usually only able to build on the weekends because of my long work days. If it wasn't for that I would have put more effort into scenery. Oh well.
