This is my first ever experiment with WorldPainter, which turned into a nice little project in its own right. It's part of my larger Kingdom of Whiteark but I'm releasing it as a standalone thing because... I may as well.

It's also my first non-desert build in more than two-and-a-half years, my first non-desert build since I stopped being completely terrible at building in Minecraft, and my first ever attempt at making a forest from scratch - so forgive me if it's sickeningly awful, won't you?

It's not very big, because the terrain was just an experiment, but the size allowed everything to be made and placed by hand. That includes the entire forest, because I'm a glutton for punishment. Then I populated the place with wild animals, because I'm also weird. It's an attempt to create a slowly dying community of people in an ecosystem on the brink.

This will be included with the larger Kingdom of Whiteark when that finally gets released some time in the 22nd century, but this was almost finished so I thought, "What the hell," and here it is. Only the mine is left to complete.

Krutooti Nree ni kruni!

History behind the place:

Spoiler - click to reveal

Krutooti Nree - 'forest across the water' in the Insanbric tongue, though sometimes called The Windswept Isles by Whiteark's Berms - is a tiny fragment of green surrounded by the endless blue; two small isles and a scattering of rocks sat in the warm seas around a thousand blocks SW of the port of Whiteark.
Formerly a much larger archipelago, smashed over millennia into the jagged remnant it now is, Krutooti Nree was known to the ancient Insanbrii people, visible from the dusty mainland cliffs as it is, but their exact interactions with this speck of land remains an unknown. The presence of sea-battered ruins is undeniable, but with conventional wisdom stubbornly telling the story of the Insanbrii never independently creating watercraft, and the usually faultless record-keeping of those same native people being conspicuously silent on the matter of voyaging over the sea, the origin of the three surviving sandstone pillars is still the mystery it has always been.

The outsider people one day arrived in Whiteark, time passed and their presence grew stronger, and time changed Krutooti Nree too, as only the sea had before. The now-more-advanced native Insanbrii had found the larger island to contain worthwhile deposits of diorite, and have been mining the rocks beneath the bluff for some four centuries now, but the picks are slowly falling silent once again. What were once vast deposits are now mostly depleted, more land is lost to the angry sea every year, and the support of outside interests has dwindled almost to nothing.
Only the kingdom itself, and the Royal Darnoon Company remain to aid the few remaining inhabitants, maintaining a guard post and general store respectively. but the days even of the latter might well be numbered.

The pillars will remain, though. Those baffling, nonsensical ruins will still be home to a mild curiosity, as they always have been, until they too are one day eaten by the unrelenting waves which have claimed the rest of their island home.
