Do you use blueprints? And if yes, which site or form of recourse would you recommend?

With the 2 engines I've built so far I just search google image for the blueprint/drawing. And i use gimp to place a grid over the drawing so i can build it all to scale with everything else. On the part with the engine facing forward I build my trains with 28 blocks between the wheels. Then I build the details from real
pictures of the locomotive.
