Minecraft Olympics

I have been watching the Olympics lately and been inspired to make my own Olympics in the world of minecraft. It will consist of all the major facilities that would be at the Olympics. I am doing the Athletics track now and need lots of help.

I don't know how to make it a server so can someone put a step by step guide of making it a server.

It is currently being made on superflat and when it is finished i will put in a landscape and scenery. (i'm using no world edit)
