I have just completed the Mocking Jay pin featured in The Hunger Games, the story behind the pin is the main
character (Katniss Everdeen) took this from the district shop ((A Black Market)) and gives the pin to her sister
before the tributes are announced and tells her, as long as you have this nothing bad will happen, and later Prim gives it back to Katniss (I'm not going to spoil what happens so I'm stopping here.)

Umm thats what happens in the movie in the book madge gives her the pin when its the time to say good bye to use as her district token oh wait u dont know who madge is because YOU DIDNT READ THE DAMN BOOK
