Morjord castle has since been surrounded by fertile lands due to the dragon Jord. Because of the fertile land people were allowed to thrive off the land and were able to grow even the most tempermental of fruits, spices and vegetables. In honor of Jord the people created the town of Morjord in the heart of the fertile land that Jord had created. Every year the people would hold a festival and offer the finest of their harvest to the dragon and in return the she would insure that the land would stay rich and fertile. The people prospered and thrived off the land and began to sell portions of their harvest to distant lands in return for refined and crafted good. This continued for centuries but as time passed the people began to offer less and less to the dragon during the yearly festival and instead began selling more and more of the dragons offering until eventually there was no offering at all. Jord who was often seen flying above the town soon vanished and was soon forgotten by the people. The people continued to prosper and sell their crops until one day everything changed. Foreign countries that the people had been trading to became more and more interested in the fertile land and began trying to buy the land from the townspeople. The townspeople didnt want to lose the very land that had nurtured them and declined to sell the land which in turn sparked a long war. The once peaceful town had no defenses and because of this many people were slaughtered. Running for their lives the remaining townspeople fortified themselves inside the towns castle. The peoples town burned and their crops were destroyed by the invading army. Trapped inside the castle the people quickly began to loose hope and prayed for help. Their pleas for help were answered by the dragon they had abandoned so long ago. Jord came to the castle and made an offer to the people. "In exchange for your saving your lives you shall stay on this land forever. The very land that you exploited in order to prosper shall become your prison." The frightened people agreed to the dragons offer. The land around the castle began to shake violently. The people quickly ran outside in panic worried the castle would cave in on them. They quickly came to a stop mere feet away from a large drop off that had once not been there. They gazed downwards to see their burning town fading away as the land beneath their feet continued to rise. The invading army began to flee in panic at the sight and the people cheered in joy. The townspeople began to look for a way down from the castle but couldnt find one. As the dragon had said, the very land they prospered from had now become their eternal prison.
