Author's Note:

This is a large "First Generation" Battleship that I created for the movecraft plugin. This ship is probably my favorite amongst the ones I've posted, and some of the ones I will post later... And it was made 95% by yours truly. Credit for the Death Dart's color scheme goes to DoctorEckener, and credit for the Brig and the engines goes to Knarlet, and, finally, credit for the aft cannons goes to DukeofAerdy.

Feel free to use this in any way you want, wherever you want. If you happen to refit or remake this ship in any way, feel free to do so, and if you decide to upload said modifications, feel free as well; simply credit me when doing so.

This ship flies using the movecraft plugin, but the redstone devices work without it (Although that depends on the version.)

Background:

During the ancient age of armored airship designs, the pride of most fleets were most definitely the prideful, gargantuan Ships-of-the-Line, mighty vessels that imposed their law over all skies. Designed by some of the most talented and experienced shipwrights and engineers of the French Republic Navy, the Soleil Royal (Royal Sun) would be no exception, bearing to bear more firepower than any and all recorded Line-of-battle-ships of any nation, bringing to bear nineteen fearsome cannons. Being the largest "conventional" naval asset of the french navy, the Royal Sun gave her name to a class of five of the most fearsome vessels ever devised. originally armed with sixteen state-of-the-art medium range cannons, the Royal Sun gained great notoriety for it's heavy firepower, as so much as a single broadside had the potential to disable or destroy most armored warships of the day. Multiple issues were encountered by ships of the Royal Sun-class in their early life, as the original lack of proper cannon fuse control turned the ship's superior range into, ironically, a flaw which could be exploited; the absence of arc control on first generation designs meant that the cannons would almost always follow the same trajectory; generally creating an arc during fire, as the projectiles were launched to high altitudes before falling back to their destination. Whilst the damage recieved at range was almost incomparable to any other ships aside from vessels of the Iron duke or Renascent classes, this high arc meant that a ship closer than the ideal range could be able to dodge the vessel's fearsome broadsides and strike it where it is vulnerable. This was a problem due to the vessel's slow speed, and caused the sinking of the first two ships of the class, the Soleil Royal and the Saint Louis. After the loss of these warships - which was highly covered up by the french admiralty - it was decided that this problem could be fixed by giving access to the fuse cntrol mechanisms from inside the ship, a feature which, whilst basic and rather

simple, allowed for this problem to be fixed. although the time of refitting was small due to the light modifications, it did give hope to opposing fleets that the fearsome ships of the class would never be seen again. Such hopes would be reduced to ash when the newly refitted battleships Bretagne, Grace de Dieu and Implacable re-emerged with multiple innovative modifications to terrorize the skies.

The refitting process allowed for a larger, more substantial hangar bay which would be able to carry up to five light fighters, as opposed to the previous three, a compliment larger than most ships of the day. Moreover, forward and aft cannon emplacements were added to cover the ship's "blind spots"', turning the ship's amount of cannons from sixteen to nineteen, thus placing it as the most heavily armed warship of the french fleet.

Soon after this refitting process, the three remaining ships of the class would go on to lead the first, second and third fleets of the navy and participate in multiple major naval engagements and sieges for years, often being viewed as the pride of France's navy throughout the "first generation" of airship designs. When paired with the lower rates of ships such as the César, Formidable and Téméraire-classes, or the more versatile Hercule and Dauphine-classes, the Soleil Royal-class vessels were truly a force to be reckoned with and a valluable strategic asset.

Unfortunately like most legends of the day, time soon caught up to the venerable design. With the rise of advanced airskiff designs and better, more advanced warships, the Soleil royal, much like the existence of the Ships-of-the-Line, would soon dissapear, notably after the Bretagne was sunken by a single fighter squadron. Whilst the Grace de Dieu remained at port for desperate refit attempts, the Implacable was sent to lead the First fleet and stabilize the crippled battle line. Needless to say, the warship went down, after a brief but fierce combat against warships and the fighter wing that finished it. It is said that it's final, defiant shot crippled one of two engines of an opposing carrier. the Grace de Dieu was eventually abandonned, and slowly dismantled for parts. Though, years later, her hull would be rebuilt as it was, and the ship would become the pride of a particularily fortunate naval museum, where she would not go forgotten.

Armament:

x16 medium broadside-mounted cannons; two batteries of simple 4 propellant 2 projectile TNT cannons, connected to multiple gun controls spread accross the warship.
x1 Bow mounted chaser. 4 propellant, 2 projectiles, but with a slightly different design than the broadside guns.

x2 Aft mounted chaser cannons. 3 propellant 2 projectile designs by DukeofAerdy.
x8 Forward mounted AA Guns
x2 Aft mounted AA guns

Compliment:

x5 Death Dart escort fighters (automatic gun model).
