Thanks to everyone that is diamonding and favouriting this project!! I didnt expect this sort of reception at this point in the development. Im going to try and have some more meaningful images up in due time so that even more viewers can get an idea of the project scope and size.

___________________________________________________________

Big release now. Ive finished the islands in the bottom left to the point where I can go in in greater detail and change blocks, add features, and mould things more intimately. Download it, let me know what you think. The current area available for download is shown on the above picture in RED.

Definitely feel free to use the map-- in whatever state it is, to build a town, a tower, whatever it is you desire. All I ask in return is that if you post it somehwere, dont upload the entire map to be downloaded on your page because Id like to think that I at least own the rights to my own creation. A shout-out would be cool though ;). If you have any questions regarding this just comment or PM me.

Began as an organization of heightmps. Then imported into Worldpainter to form basic landmasses. Then will be transferred over to a server so that I can finish it off with VoxelSniper. The world size is ~ 6150 x 6400

I havent decided upon a world name yet, so Im opening up naming rights to the world. The one that I like the most will be used and a link provided to their PMC webpage. Keep in mind there is no guarantee that your suggestion will be used, Im hoping i get enough requests so that the number of ideas that I dont use greatly outweighs the ones i do. You can simply type it out in the comments space or if you would like to PM it to me, Im open to that as well (note that if you dont want your page linked you can right well tell me along with your suggestion).

Additional Notes

Have used WorldPainter so far, plan on using VoxelSniper to finish off the details once everything is mapped out.

The project is so large that the bottom % ticker wont move very fast, but rest assured that progress is consistently being made, as I definitely want to see this through to the end. The project breaks down to about 10% planning, 35% terraforming in WorldPainter and 55% work with VoxelSniper, and this is reflected in the progress bar.

Captains Log 3 : by AKShaolin 07/13/2012 9:06:27 pmJuly 14, 2012 @ 1:06 am UTC

Im still sort of unpleased with the land/water ratio (Id like there to be a lot more land than there is now). As a result, I think that in the coming days when I post the next full screenshot of my world, there will be more significant changes on the South shores of the main continent and a reduction on the number of islands in the South sea. The whole point of the islands is that they are supposed to be remote, and I feel that too many of them are too small to be important, and too big to or too close to others to be special.

The added land should free up some more space for me to add rivers, shrink the lakes a bit, and give the features a little bit of room to transition, rather than abruptly turn into something else.

Its definitely the way to go if you want to map things out first. You can also edit the picture and re-overlay it to adjust things on the fly, very very usefull

Thats what I love about it! What Ive also found is that its humbling when it comes to valuing teamwork and the dedication required. What one man can do with the game and add-ons really is amazing, but what one man can do with a project this large in a short amount of time is... not much :P
