A realistic but original take on a large English castle that would of been constructed not long after the Norman conquest of England with inspiration taken from some of England's most famous Norman castles such as Rochester, The Tower of London and Kenilworth

Built by Kilamudkip and a380dan on the World of Keralis server, the caste was originally built as part of a competition held by English Heritage and the build now forms part of the Bertley region on the World of Keralis server.

We used a material less commonly seen in castles on Minecraft and made it out of granite as Minecraft granite looks somewhat like real life sandstone that was quite popular for use in castles and cathedrals.

The interior follows the layout and style, authentic to how their real life counterparts would have been and the furnishings likewise.

A big thanks to Paulvmontfort for making the awesome renders!

This is so awesome!!! +1 Diamond and Favorited. I would have never thought of using granite for a castle; you've inspired me to use it more often. I really like the way that the castle looks; it's simple yet so pleasing to look at. I love how you implemented historical accuracy; the donjon, the inner bailey and outer bailey, the towers, the barbican, etc. are all present as they should be. Great job!!!
Thank you for the awesome compliments of our castle :)

EDIT: Nvm, I found it. -14300 70 4800
PLAY.KERALIS.NET is the ip the castle doesn't have a warp to my knowledge, but maybe kila and dan could post coords to it here?

I know this was built on a server but do you think you could post a download? I think you can save a file containing your plot on creative servers using the plugin.

would there have been any homes or other structures within the outer wall of a castle during this period?
We assumed not, as the castles were used as the seat of a lord, not a fortified town such as a fortress. Also after the Norman conquest we assumed it would not be wise to let the conquered English who were likely the ones the castle would need to be defended from in rebellion, live inside the walls of a Norman castle.

I am afraid we can't provide a download as the build is excursively for the World of Keralis server but you can certainly feel free to visit the server at mc.keralis.com :)

Beautiful, the realism shines, allthough lacks detail and some important elements.
Thanks for the feedback :) where would you suggest it lacks detail and some important elements?

a friggin nice. this takes so much time. You like making historical buildings?
Thanks! yes, we like to do historical replication or if it is an original build, we try to make the build seem as realistic as possible.

thats awesome. I recently started trying historical replications. My first one is the forum of trajan that I started working on 3 weeks ago.
I was like "hey that kinda looks like the one kila and dan made..." and then, i noticed it was xD

Should have uploaded this on a weekend tho, bc it would get more views that way. Still, rly nice
haha thanks XD
