Hello everyone!

I'm back after a lengthy absence, following the excessively challenging Sovetskiy Soyuz-Class build. I have been busy with many IRL things in the meantime but I haven't neglected Minecraft. I've built two ships and a whole new Naval base since I last posted, and I've decided to upload one of those ships today. There will be more in the future but at a slower rate than previously.

This is the Opytnyy, the only Project 45 destroyer completed by the Soviet Navy. It was originally to be called "Sergo Ordzhonikidze" after the Soviet Minister of Heavy Industry but was renamed Opytnyy, meaning "experimental" in 1940 after it was decided that it was to be a one-off ship. It became known as the "golden goose" of the Soviet Navy, consuming huge amounts of time, effort and expense due to its experimental propulsion design, alongside a lightweight hull construction. But numerous problems arose during its construction and its planned armament of six 130mm/50 B-2LM guns was never fitted and its completion was greatly delayed from its initial launch date of 1935. The ship was finally commissioned in 1941 with a much weaker armament, as seen here. It served during the Siege of Leningrad but otherwise had an unremarkable career before being scrapped in the 1950s.

I've used the model from War Thunder, albeit with a more appropriate colour scheme than War Thunder uses. I've made a couple of subtle changes from that model based on observations from line drawings but War Thunder's model remains mostly accurate.
