Pearl Harbor - December 7, 1941
For December 7, 2016 The 75th anniversary of the attack.
December 7, 1941. A day that shall live in infamy.
-Franklin Delano Roosevelt
On December 7th, 1941, the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was suddenly attacked by the carrier forces of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The attack, masterminded by IJN Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, utilized the art of a surprise attack, and the aircraft carrier. The attack came in two waves of dive bombers, high level bombers, torpedo bombers, and fighters. By far the most effective of these were the torpedo bombers, which were responsible for the sinking of Arizona.
This act killed 2,403 men and wounded more than a thousand more. Six ships were sunk and countless others were damaged. The most profound effect of this attack was, however, the entrance of the United States into World War II.
Today, Pearl Harbor is still a large active naval base, with much of it incorporated into a national historic landmark. Two ships from the attack, Arizona and Utah, remain sunk in the harbor, with Arizona having a memorial placed above it. You can visit these memorials, as well as the Pacific Aviation Museum which is on Ford Island, and the USS Missouri battleship museum.
Only three ships involved in the attack remain afloat:
The USS Hoga (YT-146) in the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum, in Little Rock
The USS YT-143, the only Pearl Harbor survivor still in use today, as a dive boat in North Kingstown, RI
and, on a technicality, the USCGC Taney, which was not in Pearl Harbor but rather in Honolulu. Today it resides in Baltimore, Maryland.

Our goal here is simply to recreate the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor as it was in the moments leading up to the attack. We are not finished, but there is a large amount of construction done.
In the future, we intend to open up the server for the project to be viewed.
Dynmap of the entire project:

(Pearl Harbor Tab)
Stats
13 Months building the map
82,000 chunks
30 Ships placed on the map
Map size: roughly 5km x 5km
Our goal date for completion is December 7th, 2017.

We have approached this subject with the utmost respect to those who witnessed the horrors of the Pacific War. So, I would like to dedicate this project to those living and dead, on both sides, who fought in the hell that we know as World War Two, especially the survivors of the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
