MOVECRAFT UPDATE


THE SUPPORT CRAFT IS NOW A "MEGAAIRSHIP" (26k blocks fully equipped)






This is my latest Movecraft project, the Antarctic Empire Support Craft.  With camouflage that is sufficient in nearly any environment (except snow, of course; this goes for most other ships too), it supports its fleet's fighters by soaking up hits from enemy warships.  Although the armor is not particularly strong, its cannon wiring is very deep inside the hull, meaning a direct hit to the bridge will not knock the cannons out of action.  The cannons can be fired from the bridge or from the gunnery room itself.

The ship is useful in many ways.  The heavy scattershot cannons fire in a very low arc, which can be used for ground assault or attack on an enemy ship below.  For targets above or level with the Support Craft, it has a line of four 5 block torpedoes on each side.  Each tube is armored.  if there is a heavily armored target, the torpedoes can be combined to make an 11 block torpedo to fire on one side.  After enemy armor is penetrated, fireguns will light the lifting cells of the target.

There is also a torpedo turret on the back of the ship. it can be independently controlled from the main bridge of the ship, or you can climb in the turret and use it manually.  the fireguns in the turret must be fired manually.

Although the ships armor is relatively weak, it is a support ship. a ship that defends fighters.  A well equipped Support Craft will do some damage and distract another warship while fighters do the rest of the work.

The bridge of the ship is relatively high up in the hull, making it a typically more difficult place to hit head on.  In case the main bridge is destroyed, there is a second bridge.

The placement of the ship's engines are rather clever if i may say so myself. The majority of the engines are at the bottom of the ship, meaning enemies that aren't familiar with the ship's schematics will target the wrong area: The tail of the ship. although there are some engines there, knocking out all of them wont put the ship down.
