my laptop is sort of fixed temporarily so I can now try out the piston elevator!

no I just created a new mcedit world and put the schematic in. In case u don't know when u create a new world with mcedit it makes a huge hole in the world.

..seen this elevator before..
also it seems like your friend forgot a piston in the floor attached to the third cable of the lever (which doesnt do anything at the moment.. (suspicious!!). otherwise you need to jump when pulling the lever. there even is a delay included for this missing piston, so i would seriously consider checking if this design is an original...

the basic idea of this elevator (no matter who thought of it) is great, however more useful when using pressure plates and more than two stories (already done - but i'm propably not uploading it since it wasnt my idea.. :( ). but so far this project is a disimrovement from what i have seen on youtube (don't have a link).

I havnt been able to try this because my laptop died on me yesterday and my pc has the error "bad video card drivers" which I can't seem to fix so if you wan't to tell him his you tube name is legohornbymadman1

I just found the video by MINECRAFTdotNET http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5pG8CxkCuA. but there are more from other people. I didnt wanna start copyrightnonsence anyway, i wanted to point out that your upload is missing the lowest piston which u cant change at the moment anyway..
