I'm trying to make a Piston elevator that easy to use, i have just started and i will work as much as i can on it.
The whole reason I'm doing this is because i have always wanted to make one. Feel free to send pm me improvements or upgrades as soon as I put the world for download.

Additional Notes

It would also be nice to link me mods that could help me make it, i already use too many items, single player commands, and fly mod. Oh and i use McEdit too

I am building something similar and running into pretty much the same probs, maybe i can help...

I'm doing an elevator for minecarts, so i am only powering the pistons from two opposing sides, and powering with repeaters through another block so i have a nice elevator shaft.

Basically to retract you'll need connections on every block height, so if i number all the lowest piston as 1 and going up from there, i power all the odd ones from the one side and the even ones from the other.

extending is then just powering the odd ones with a bit of delay inbetween, as you have already done. To retract you need timed pulses also to the even heights. Basically in your case the top block retracts fine, the second (from top) retracts the top one, and the bottom one retracts the middle one but the top stays above it.

So then you need to power the middle one again to fetch the top one...

I'm trying to use pulse limiters to get the timing as fast as possible, but can't seem to get it right... If it helps i'll post my timing when i get it.

i was working on something like that but there is problem with pistons in 1.7.3,piston can pull only 1 next piston,so you ll have to find another way to build elevator

I will help you with something and give you some advice!
When you put a piston on top of a piston, the bottom piston cannot retract with the second piston if the top piston is extended. Which means, that you would have to have a special and complex pattern to make them go up 1 by 1 then the top has to go down with the bottom. So it is really hard! i have tried it! But i wish you good luck!

I knew that already, but thanks anyways. I have an idea of how to do it though. (Im sure this project will take a LONG time)
