Get the 512 x 512 texture pack, which includes some actual floor and wall textures from the ship, here! (Recommended, since it will look pretty weird on default):

http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/queen-mary-2-texture-pack/

Get the 16 x 16 texture pack here (option for people with weaker hardware)
http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/queen-mary-2-textures-16-x-16/

If you like this build, please give a diamond for my hard work!

When it was launched in 2004, the QM2 was the largest passenger ship ever constructed. Unlike typical cruise ships, it has a strong thick hull and is designed to regularly cross rough oceans. I think it has a lot more grace and beauty than the floating "food barges" like Royal Caribbean's gigantic Oasis of the Seas, which other minecrafters have built.

My goal was to build as accurate a model of the QM2 inside and out as possible - every single publicly accessible room and cabin is included, and a person will be able to explore the ship more or less as it exists in real life. To show how crazy I am, even the inside of the lifeboats have been carefully constructed.

The ship is 602 x 68 blocks with just over 1 million total blocks, which I believe is the largest floating ship ever built in minecraft (I welcome anybody who can prove otherwise).

The ship is complete inside and out (12 decks, public rooms only - no engine rooms at this time), is fun to explore with thousands of rooms and would make a pretty neat survival map - anybody can download it, and if you do please credit/message me as I'd love to see what people do with it.

Additional Notes

Thanks to psycodragons for helping me finish the ship's hull!

Hi! I don't play Minecraft a lot, but my younger cousin downloaded this boat and it's so cool! Your really good! But whenever I try to download it by clicking the "Download Minecraft World" button it comes up with dropbox and it says the file isn't here anymore ad it might have moved. If anyone has any idea how I can get the boat, it would mean a whole lot!!! By the way, I'm sure it's something I've done where I;'ve been really stupid! Also I have a Mac laptop and I'm wandering if that is the issue- I'm really not techy! 😂

Thanks x

No, you're not stupid, I just haven't updated my world saves in many years :). I just updated it, it should be downloadable now. Just FYI the last version of minecraft that I played with this map was 1.5.7.
Dude! Your ship is amazing! I love it! Do you mind if i use the texture pack for this a modify it a bit for my realm? I have made a start, but then i got PM and thought i might put it on PM!

I'm not trying to be mean or anything but ito the only the biggest ship because there's is about 35% of the ship that is just nothing which sucks but if you could make the entire ship with no dead space and ***ACTUALLY*** 1-1 it would be really cool

Thanks, I understand your point about making it 1-1. I made it at the slightly larger scale because I've actually been on board the ship and I think my model better replicates the sense of scale of the interiors. I also don't plan on filling in the dead space, because (a) I don't know the exact layout of those spaces (they aren't public) and (b) they would be really boring to build as they are just white-walled maintenance areas, kitchens, etc.

Yes I totally understand like the ship you did a great job on and the ship I have posted has no dead space which was my goal but it's smaller than this ship but I am making another ship that will be bigger but as always my ships are layer out with the engine rooms and then crew areas on the first 2 decks and yes they are always boring but I gets fun after that!!

Is it just me, or do other people have the same ship, but they "made" it themselves? Or, am I just really good at noticing things? I am making the Queen Elizabeth 2 and MAYBE the QM2, but it is not going to be THIS HUGE!

Unfortunately it's impossible to make a map with very deep, mostly infinite ocean. I have looked everywhere for a suitable seed. Most of the "water world" seeds out there don't have the kind of scale necessary for a boat of this size. I did the best I could and made a big tank for it, but there will never be a perfect ocean of this size in Minecraft.

I don't think so, all of the Oasis that I've seen are 1:1 scale and are 362 blocks long. Mine is 1.74:1 and is 602 blocks long, which allows me to add more detail than is possible with 1:1. Although the real life Queen Mary 2 is slightly smaller than the Oasis of the Seas, my minecraft model is considerably larger than any *completed* ships that I've seen.

I didn't know that the RL Queen Mary 2 was that long! ("Close to Oasis of the Seas") btw, what Ressource-Texture Pack would you recommend me do to a ship that looks modern (like Oasis of the seas) I'm really looking for a pack that give a boat feeling or something. I found 1 or 2 Titanic Packs, I'm trying them soon. But if you know a more modern-like pack, please tell me! :) EDIT: I just realized I could use your TP, XD. Anyway, I don't need it now, because my 2nd project will start in like 6 months... XD at least.

PS; I could pretty much summ up my motto when building projects, with the same thing as you! (Build big...) just look at my enormous project on my profile and you'll understand why! It's the only project I'm building so far, but that because it's so big to finish.. :D when it will be done,I have some other big projects in mind... :D

That's cool, good luck on your big project! I'm not an expert on resource packs, but you can use my Queen Mary 2 pack if you like. It's not that great, I just replaced a lot of walls and carpet textures to look more like the actual ship.

A, I see. Each room Onboard is perfect! But there isn't 2500 rooms Onboard QM2. but she can hold that many guests, by the calculations you ship should hold 5000 guests at half capacity and 10 000 at full capacity. Overall Great Ship and exceeds each and every expectation of your creations! :D

Why did you built it oversized? QM2's size isn't even close to that, you had to leave many empty areas. On the other hand, great detail.
  • Apple Bruce
  • Level 60
  • High Grandmaster Engineer
  • February 3, 2014, 8:06 pm
I oversized it because things that are built to scale in Minecraft always look smaller than they do in real life. This is mainly because the players are all 2 meters, or 6' 6" tall. In addition to the players being giants, the walls and floors of all structures have to be 1 meter thick, which is like Hitler's bunker (floors have to actually be 2 meters thick if you want to separate floor and ceiling - I made this before carpets came out). In order to correct for these factors, I have determined the ideal scaling-up ratio to be 1.74. If you want to build something "to scale" in minecraft, you should take the dimensions in meters and multiply by 1.74 to get the number of blocks. I have found that this ratio results in structures that are slightly too big looking on the outside, but perfectly sized on the inside due to the constricting factor of thick walls.

First off, good job on your builds, they are very accurate!
I have always felt that ships built in 1:1 seemed too small and the interiors are never very close to the real thing in terms of detail. My goal is to be as realistic as possible by building "real for real"; whether people like that or not is up to them to decide. For the example of the QM2, I have had the luxury of having sailed on the real ship and documenting every detail with photographs, so I built it so that when I fly around the interior it feels almost as familiar as the real thing (while still being made of blocks, of course) ;).

One example of building "real for real" that I've always wanted to do is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai - at 830 meters, it would have to be 1444 blocks high in Minecraft using my formula, but I won't build it unless Mojang increases the height limit. That is the biggest thing on my wishlist for updates. I won't use height-increasing mods, because there is never a guarantee that the mod will survive an update and I want everybody to be able to enjoy my builds.

I understand, the more you increase the scale of your build, the bigger the amount of detail you can add to it. And to be fair, looking from outside, this is the best ship recreation I've ever seen. The only bad point in increasing the scale are those empty areas in the middle decks and below the lower decks (I've done some cuts in your ship using MCEdit), but the detail in the main spaces (theater, restaurants and stuff) is outstanding too. You definitely deserve my 142th diamond, by the way ;)

Thanks! Actually, those empty spaces are all part of the real ship. I didn't fill them in because they aren't public areas and I don't know what they look like (it would also be boring to build these). Such as the engine rooms, crew cabins, kitchens, housekeeping areas, service areas, etc.

Well, the problem is I've looked everywhere for a good deep ocean seed and haven't been able to find one with deep enough water for the ship to comfortably sit in. So I just built my own tank in MCEdit. I have found a couple of ocean seeds, but the water is not deep enough for the ship. If you know a good seed, I will make an at sea map.
what minecraft version do u use
i will find one in a few days and i will give u the seed in a few days. how deep do u need it to be

Thanks, I use 1.6.2 currently for my builds, but seeds should work for any version. The maximum depth of the ship is 14 blocks, so the average ocean depth should be at least 15, preferably 20 blocks.

If you use a bukkit server to host maps with single player commands loaded, mobs won't spawn on peaceful mode.
i use vanilla minecraft with mcpatcher and tmi
Schematic please, i want to put it in the sea and use the Archimedes ships to set sail it will be cool. You can also add an at sea map. this ship is the biggest completed ship in minecraft ship. you should make a new ship cause onesirow and his capitol ship titan will beat you "consider it".
P.S. update the texture pack to 1.7.2 or so 1.5.1 is outdated

I am not worried, because onesirow will probably never finish his ship :). If you look at the screenshots, the timestamps are from April 2012, almost two years ago.

I am not sure what the current texture pack format is, but I will update the texture with a resource pack (I think that is what is used since 1.6.1?).

As for schematic, you can do that yourself by cutting the ship out of the pool I built for it using MCEdit. You are welcome to do whatever you want with the worldsave, but it is redundant for me to post a schematic myself.
to be honest i suck at MCedit and i don't really know how to

P.S. do you have a server

Well, it depends on what the scale is. If your friend's Titanic is 1:1, than it would only be 269 meters (blocks) long. At 1:1 scale, the Queen Mary 2 is 345 meters (blocks) long. My model is much bigger than 1:1, and is about 602 blocks long.
