This is a bare bones ring world based off of Larry Niven's work. I've modified it to fit minecraft physics. There's an artificial sun in the center. Currently the ring world has a bedrock bottom with a grass block covering and a glass upper part. I have a quarter ring w/ grass and without grass as well as the central star in the schematic file.

Additional Notes

Original SketchUp model was a Sonic Ring by YoshiOG1

Just so you know the sun does not really need glass still liquid keeps its shape.

Actually my stars do need glass. Otherwise you get a dome topped lava cylinder. Interior glass is optional, but I like having them hollow so that you can use the space for whatever.

Actually with MC edit you don't. Liquid in minecraft has 2 settings. Either still or active Put liquid in still the liquid keeps in shape. I on this map actually removed the glass from the star it stays. But yeah you have a good point with being able to fill it with anything. I also removed the walkways. I replaced it with nether portal travel to get into the sun.

Am currently making a sort of station in the sun. The liquid thing I discovered a long time ago how to make it stay.

But another question what kind of beast of a PC do you have? For me I cant even use the schematics for the ring they are too big for my PC to handle.

If you have a 64 bit processor I highly recommend using the 64 bit MCEdit, that helps alot.

I figured more of a steampunk zepplin. You'd have to build some docks is all.
