"The only way to go down under!"
Welcome aboard the RMS Tasmania, built for the fictional Province Line. In this map Officer's cabins, all passenger accommodations and public rooms are available.
Designed in 1913 and laid down in 1915, construction moved slowly during World War One which allowed the ship to be completed in 1919. The Tasmania was the largest ship on the Australian run, and first to be equipped with a pool for First Class Passengers. The Tasmania was a modest success, however many viewed the ship as "outdated" in design by the time of her release. A fleet mate named, Australia, was introduced in 1926, overtaking the title of largest ship on the Australian run. During the 1930s, the interior was modernized and second and third class was combined into "Tourist Class" giving a second life to the aging steamer.
In World War Two the Tasmania began service as an armed merchant cruiser operating until her sinking in 1942, killing 1,490 people many of them Italian POWs. Survivors were scattered throughout the southern Atlantic Ocean, many dying from exposure and others not being rescued until weeks later.
