Scarborough 32 guns, part of an early generation of british frigates, she represented the generation of galley frigate that would be common until the 1740-50s when it gave way to the ''true frigate''. Early frigates like Scarborough were built like a small two decker but with the lower gundeck only partially armed aft, the rest of the deck would be used for oar ports, affording the ship with a spare propulsion system if the wind died or the ship was dismasted in action. This made these ships incredibly versatile and great commerce raiders and convoy escorts.
