The piece "Seconds to Midnight" is a build I've created that portrays time. Rather than creating something simple & stereotypical, I wanted to show it through contrasts.

The two builds, shown on the left and the right, left being medieval, and right being modern, are portraying a contrast that is associated with progression; how things evolve over time. There is also a contrast between life and death; a beautiful and colorful bird, flying around and a dead bird; showing that we can't change the process of "beginnings and endings"

The Blue color, which the bird has, communicates significance and importance, showing that time is something of value, something we can't waste because once it's gone, we can't get it back, so we must be very careful with how we spend it.

For the clocks in the background, I was inspired by The Doomsday Clock, which is a symbol that represents the likelihood of a man-made global catastrophe; a metaphor for threats to humanity from unchecked scientific and technical advances.

The middle clock shows the current time, which is 100 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been since its creation.

The left clock is 17 minutes to midnight, the time it showed in 1991 when the Cold War ended, also the furthest it has ever been from midnight.

The right clock shows the time in 1947, which was the year it was created, being 7 minutes to midnight.

Ever since I had the idea of creating this piece, I've been fascinated with time, it's something that looks simple but yet it's so complex. In today's era, everyone struggles with finding free time to do something that they want or something that they are passionate about because they are too busy, but in reality, we are not as busy as we think, and I've seen myself dealing with this problem quite often. The reality is that we don't know how to properly manage it; obviously, it's easy to say, but hard to do. It's a skill that once mastered, then nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.

If you'd like to do more research about The Doomsday Clock, here's an article which talks more in-depth about why we are so close to midnight.

Hopefully, this work of mine will raise some awareness about the global problems we are facing right now; a small change could really help more than you'd think!

Huge thanks to CommonUwu for the render!
