Severinstor

The Severinstorburg (named after the parish of Saint Severin; Saint Severin was a bishop in Cologne and is said to be buried in Severinstrasse), also called "Porta (Sancti) Severini" in the Middle Ages, later Severinsportz(en), Severinspforte, in Kölsch-Vringspootz or simply Severinstor, is one of four (along with the Eigelsteintor, the Hanentor and the Ulrepforte) surviving city gates of the medieval city wall of Cologne. Along with Saint Severin, it is a landmark of the Severinsviertel in Cologne and an excellent example of medieval fortification architecture.
