The Confederation's debut into dreadnought design, the Severograd-class Dreadnought was a rather peculiar one. Improvements in coal-fired steam turbines allowed for a greater displacement, affording more design flexibility towards Baltoslavic naval designers. What they came up with was a dreadnought with considerable firepower, albeit one which had it in an asymmetrical package.
The unconventional turret layout belies this design. The main battery, consisting of four brand new 12 inch gun turrets, had two wing turrets placed on the port and starboard sides of the ship with the remaining two placed at the bow and stern. This configuration provided a broadside firing arc, maximizing the ship's firepower when engaging enemy vessels on either side. The line was successful in bolstering the battleship fleet and replacing the aging pre-dreadnoughts that had preceded her.
