Here are some ships I made. It uses Proto Theta's flans mod pack and custom NPCs but you don't have to have either mod to use it. There is 2 ships: The Bulldog (a cargo ship) and The Cannon (a troop carrier ship)

Looks a lot like my first ship builds lol. Some advice, try using some colour on the outside rather than just iron blocks, and you can also add some more detail to the outside using stuff like stone stairs (can be used for a vent looking thing).
