Hey Minecraft!

Welcome to my first project (Or start of). My first project (And maybe my only for a few months) is gonna be a computer. So far I have built a 2-Bit Binary Decoder (Very Simple), but for this project think of making possibly anywhere from 8-128 bit decoder (Depending on my needs). Recently I have learned about RAM and have started making it. Because of the way I do it I really don't know how to measure the speed or anything. If anyone would like to do this just send me a quick pm and I will give you the map!

I will keep you guys updated on this project until I finish it and release it.

For anyone willing to help or maybe even got a few guides for anything about a computer please send me a message or write something in the comments below.

Thanks for reading and hopefully will be seeing you soon in the updates!

128-bit decoder? O___O Why would somebody ever need that EVER!? xD I'm not going to do the math, but that's billions of outputs, if not trillions. Even if you stacked it in levels, 10 high, it would be several times out of render distance.

Anyway, what size is this computer going to be, architecture-wise?

Well I don't actually know, but I said this before I actually knew the size of an 8 bit decoder xP So my math is now abit more actual, I may do a 16 or 32 (Max). I am hoping to make a very compact computer for speed.

The main times you'll need a decoder in a computer is to designate RAM locations, ALU functions, stuff like that. It helps keep your instruction set smaller, and the CPU will be easier to program in the long run. The only times you'll actually need to decode the data is if you're building a decimal display, internet, or something along those lines.

Awesome !

I would be happy to help. just ask anything about Redstone computers and ill answer.

Also hopefully you will not need anything near an 8+bit decoder !!!! ( becase they start to lag-out pretty bad )

Don't worry tho, even with a relatively small amount of ROM / RAM it's still possible to construct a worth-while computer !

I agree with Revolutional.

For an interesting alternative to one or two dimensional decoding:
