Texas State Capitol
Here's yet another build I did to celebrate my Texan heritage (alongside my Alamo build from many years ago), this time I decided to do the State Capitol building in Austin Texas. The building is the third capitol the State of Texas used, the first was a small log structure (1836 - 1853), the second was a modest stone building (1853 - 1885). The second capitol was heavily damaged in 1881 by a fire, and it was decided that a new grander building would be built in its place, the third capitol (1888 - Today) started construction in 1885 and was opened to the public in 1888. It still serves as the seat of the Texas State Government to this day.
As someone who grew up in Texas, trips to Austin were frequent and thus trips to the State Capitol were also frequent. I decided to do the build as could not find a properly built version of the building. For this one I actually went to Austin during the build process to take pictures of the interior of the real State Capitol. This one is unfinished, it has all the interior rooms mapped out however none of it is furnished. I hope to return to the project at some point and furnish out the Senate and House Chambers and hopefully further afterwards.
