The Realism Project

What is it? The Realism Project is my private (might be collaboration someday? who knows!) project, where I intend to build modern and historical buildings from real life in as much detail as Minecraft allows. I will be using few mods and custom texture pack and will be putting the map up for download once I finish a building.

Why on Earth...? Well... why not? I love building accurate existing buildings in Minecraft anyways. My previous project, City of Helsinki, was a bit of a failure as the map got corrupted. I decided I would do simpler, smaller buildings and projects so that I would be allowed to do a bit at a time and coul easily take backups of my progress.

What will you be building? I don't know exactly yet. Maybe you could suggest me some in the comments? I am starting with the only Finnish medieval Basilika church, the Turku Cathedral. Due to its extended building period, it has parts of Romanesque, Gothic and Gothic Revival architecture in it. Hope you enjoy it as much I enjoy building it!

General Information

I am using some mods for this project and a custom texture pack. If you have any recommendations for mods that could be useful, I am more than happy to receive suggestions!

Mods used:

  • Forge
  • Immibis's Micro Blocks
  • GLSL Shaders Mod with Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders

Resource pack:

  • Flow's HD 128 (cobble from some other texture pack, if anyone recognises it, tell me which!)

Tower finished...! Look at it soar, at over 90 meters tall..!

I am thinking of having separate project & schematics download for each building, then having the display world downloadable from this one. What do you guys think?

Thank you! That is a very nice thing to hear, as building all these little details with mini blocks can be tidious sometimes... :)

I checked your builds and I'm a fan already...! Lovely job and you gave me heaps of ideas right there!

Mini blocks, I was thinking it was the texturepack but cool and really gives some opportunities. Especially with Scandinavian architecture that hasn't got the huge details like f.x. New York art deco / beaux arts stuff.
