I made a two floor elevator recently, but saw that there was precisely a big enough hole between the floors to put another floor, so I did.
The only thing I am not totally happy about is that if you would press the call button on any floor, even though the elevator is already there, the doors will close for a short period and than open again. And I am not sure what would happen if multiple buttons would be pressed at once, but pressing the two buttons in the elevator will let you go to the floor which the last buttons pressed refers to.

Awesome elevator..

It didn't work for me in version 1.7.9 ( maybe i've build it wrong,.. maybe because the design is a few versions older )
Anyways,.. i've edited it in my private server to make it functional again and it is an great elevator.

EDIT : solved the problem with the closing and opening with doors if the elevator is already on that floor

Excellent work! Don't worry about the doors opening and closing even if you're on the right floor, I'd rather you used your genius for new things! Plus, the only way i can think of to fix that is an 'inverted' proximity detector which might end up taking up a lot of space on the side of the elevator.

you are very intelligent in wiring, have you considered doing it in real life???

I the near future I have to make an choice for the minor I want to do. Currently I am studying mechanical engineering, but when I had to make this decision I had to choose between this and technical physics. So technical physics would now be an option for the minor, but maybe electrical engineering would also be an option...
