Tikal Temples π¬πΉ |
They were directly inspired by temples I, II, III, IV and V of ancient Tikal in Guatemala.
The designs were based on lots of historical research and different artistic interpretations of how these
fabulous structures may have originally looked, and a little bit of my own fantasy interpretation.
Just some things to note:
- I tried to get each temple as close to its real measurements and design as possible,
but there unfortunately just isn't a lot of 100% verifiable information available at the moment.
Lots of websites quote different things and two of the temple ruins haven't even been fully excavated yet.
so I had to play around with some aspects of these builds, which was still a fun challenge :)
- Temple I and II, both feature complete example interiors in the shrines, while the other three interiors are empty.

Big Update :) : by PioThePie 05/22/2024 10:47:35 amMay 22, 2024 @ 2:47 pm UTC
I've gone back to the drawing board on these temples and complety redone the designs and detailing of all of them.
- Temple II (as shown in picture #17) has been completely rebuilt to better match the real styructure.
- Remade Temple I's patterns and cleaned up its interior
- Repainted all the Shrine Rooms back to white (stucco) as a personal design choice
- Updated the information about each temple on the Stele posts at the base of each staircase
- Swapped out a bunch of birch wood elements for jungle wood alternatives and
redid the Wood lintels in this new color
