En el corazón del Estado de Hidalgo yacen las ruinas de lo que alguna vez fue la ciudad de Tollan-Xicocotitlan, capital de la legendaria civilización tolteca, quienes eran elogiados como los mejores artistas que Mesoamérica haya tenido. Dicen las leyendas que, por un tiempo, la ciudad fue habitada por el mismo Quetzalcóatl; quien, tomando la forma del mítico gobernante Ce Acatl Topiltzin, sería recordado como el último de los tlahtoque toltecas. Años más tarde, los mexicas llegarían a la capital ya abandonada, y quedaron tan maravillados con aquellas ruinas que después afirmarían ser los descendientes de sus antiguos habitantes (así como los romanos afirmaban ser los descendientes de los troyanos).
Sin embargo, a pesar de su inmensa influencia cultural, el sitio es difícilmente recordado, incluso entre aficionados de las civilizaciones prehispánicas. Así que, para enmendar esta trágica falta de atención, decidí construir la ubicación en Minecraft, con la esperanza de que más personas se interesen en este hermoso complejo arqueológico y su historia.
Debo enfatizar que yo no soy ni historiador ni arqueólogo, y que tampoco trabajo en el sitio. Solo soy un mexicano tratando de preservar su herencia y dársela a conocer a más personas, y para eso fui al sitio en persona y recopilé fuentes confiables que ilustraran cómo se hubiera visto el recinto en sus mejores días. Pero si hay discrepancias entre el mapa y el sitio real, es por eso.
También decidí llenar los interiores de los palacios y edificios para hacer el mapa más entretenido de explorar. Es importante tener en cuenta que no estuvieron amueblados así en la vida real.

In the heart of the State of Hidalgo lie the ruins of what once was the city of Tollan-Xicocotitlan, capital of the legendary Toltec civilization, who were revered as the greatest artists that Mesoamerica ever had. Legends say that, for a while, the city was inhabited by Quetzalcoatl himself, who, taking the form of the mythical ruler Ce Acatl Topiltzin, would be remembered as the last of the Toltec tlahtoque. Years later, the Mexica would arrive at the already abandoned capital, and were so amazed by those ruins that they would later claim to be the descendants of its ancient inhabitants (just like how the Romans claimed to be the descendants of the Trojans).
However, despite its immense cultural influence, the site is hardly remembered, even among the fans of pre-Hispanic civilizations. So, to amend this tragic lack of attention, I decided to build the location in Minecraft, with the hope of getting more people interested in this beautiful archaeological complex and its history.
I must emphazise that I'm neither a historian nor an archaeologist, and that I don't work at the site. I'm just a Mexican trying to preserve his heritage and to make it known to more people, and for that I went to the site myself and compiled reliable sources that would illustrate how the precinct would have looked on its best days. But if there are discrepancies between the map and the real site, that's why.
I also decided to fill in the interiors of the palaces and buildings to make the map more entertaining to explore. It's important to keep in mind that they were not furnished like that in real life.
