Explore The Cavern of NaKeth!

Thanks to UltraMagnus64 for the video!!

Steve has stumbled upon a giant and mysterious cavern. It is home to giant and ancient trees, and a unique civilization. As he explores he writes down logs describing his discoveries...

o This cavern that I have come across is both beautiful and strange. From what I can see from above is that it is filled with lots of vegetation, and its inhabitants have built into the walls of the cave. I am excited to explore further and learn about this interesting place.

Log 1:

The elf-like beings, who call themselves Ateryians, live in this cave, which theyo ve name the Cavern of NaKeth. The most obvious and distinct feature of the cavern is the giant trees and statues. They worship the trees growing here as gods. NaKeth, the largest tree, is the chief deity, creator of the cave and all the world. LaLona, the tree growing in the lake, is the goddess of water, the lifeblood of the cavern. Stories vary, but a widely accepted tale tells of the marriage between NaKeth and LaLona, and the birth LaRea. LeRea is the goddess of mortals and creator of the Ateryians, who could survive only if the realm of earth and water united. The tree of LaRea is the closest to the location of many of the homes in the cave, and is often seen as a mother and caregiver. The new beings that she had created were intelligent, but without civilization. Only then was NaToth born, LaReao s brother, the god of wealth and commerce. It is said that he is the one that sowed the stone with rich ores and minerals, and inspired the first merchants in the cave to open shops. He is a patron to both merchants and miners, and his tree grows in stone replete with ores. Each tree seems to have some kind of mysterious force around it, causing glowstone to float near them. The Ateryians built huge statues for these gods, each with hanging lamps.

Log 2:

There are many buildings throughout the cavern, each connected by various sandstone walkways. There are stone support walls raising and leveling the ground so structures can be built. Materials like stone, brick, sandstone, and iron are the most common materials for structures. Wood is rarely used, as it is both rare and considered sacred. Though many of the same materials are used to make all the buildings, each structure is unique and different. Individuality is highly prized among Ateryian society, and skilled stonemasons are paid to build and design unique structures, whether they are public buildings or private homes.

Log 3:

Ateryian society is full of many hardworking individuals. There are miners, merchants, farmers, and stonemasons, as well as government officials and priests. In the waterfront shopping district, there are potion, weapon, food, stone, and book stores. This is the area where many of the citizens come to socialize and relax. Food, as well as wool, is provided by two farms in the cavern, the MerryFlower Farm and FairWater Farm. Miners work hard in the mine, and some even live in the shafts. A totally different class of citizens is the priests. Many devote their lives to studying the trees and appeasing the gods. A small cave under the temple is where many of the priests go to meditate and become closer with both the gods and the essence and spirit of the cavern itself.

Who would have thought that such a gem was buried deep underground? The beauty of this cavern is astounding, as well as the complexity of its people. I only hope that this civilization continues to thrive and grow, and that it remains unseen from others who would wish to exploit the cave for their own benefit.o
