Hello everyone!
I'm sorry it's been such a long time. Life has been hectic recently, and I haven't been motivated to build much in Minecraft. I hope to change that soon, though, as I've laid down some new plans. I'm putting the final Dutch light cruiser on hold for a moment, and I'm going to start a new series of builds to reinvigorate me. Should be fun!
In the meantime, though, I've got the rest of my Swedish destroyer builds to share with you. Starting with the Tier VI Swedish destroyer from World of Warships, the Västerås (pronounced like Westeros from GoT, only with a V instead of a W). It's based on a real-life design from a Swedish company called Kockums that was designing some warships for Poland's next destroyer (that would become the Grom-class). This particular design is a 1,850-tonne design that was rejected by the Poles but serves as an excellent intermediate design between the previous class and the more powerful early Cold War Swedish ships. You can find the blueprint for the ship in a Polish magazine online about the Grom-class destroyers.
Again, because it's a small ship with dual turrets, I had to compromise on the turret design, so I've gone for very wide 5-block turrets that look slightly oversized but are necessary to avoid a lopsided 4-block design that's more accurate. You'll have to forgive me :D
Statistics for the ship are as follows:
Length = 108 Blocks
Beam = 11 Blocks (again, without including extremities)
Draught = 4 Blocks
Primary Armament: 6 x 120mm/50 Bofors Model 1936 Guns [3 x 2]
Anti-Aircraft Armament: 6 x 40mm/60 Bofors Model 1936 Guns [3 x 2], 4 x 25mm/64 Automatkanone L/64 Model 1932 Guns [2 x 2]
Torpedo Armament: 6 x 533mm Torpedoes [2 x 3]
Anyway, hope you like it :)
There are still five more Swedish destroyers that I've built to share with you. Look forward to those over the coming weeks and months.
See you next time,
MCMG
