The Victorian Railways R class was the only Hudson in the VR fleet. they were built in Britten following WW2 due to a material and man power shortage in Melbourne. the r class was built as a locomotive that was easy to regauge from broad to standard and back again. after almost 70 years only 7 of 70 locomtives remain with 2 oil burners and 5* coal burners.
