Somnus is a friendly community-based Minecraft survival server - fully updated to 1.12!

The server aims to have a friendly community - this is allowed for by easy to make land protections as well as the absence of any PVP (except for friendly duels in our arena). Other features include Towny, mcMMO skills, custom-made dungeons and much more!

One of the server's main unique aspects is the use of magic. After joining you will choose a (non-magical) Profession and a (magical) Power. There's a description of these below!

Professions!
Priest - perform weddings and able to cure player's curses by crafting golden apples.
Miner - mine blocks much faster (Haste II).
Warrior - move faster (Speed I) and gain some resistance to attacks (Resistance II).
Harvester - if you cut down a log, it'll also break logs if they are 1 block above or below the block you broke.
Farmer - wheat, carrot and potatoes will provide twice the usual yield.
Sailor - boats you ride are unbreakable.
Hunter - animals you kill drop cooked meat.
Brawler - triple unarmed damage.
Archer - 25% chance of not spending arrows when shooting. And crouch and left click to zoom when holding a bow.

Powers!
Beast - take no fall damage, and any mob you hit has a chance of bleeding.
Druid - right click on trees to set the time and weather every 45 minutes.
Spell Bow - left click with a bow to select your bow mode: Lava, Ice, Wither, Poison, Explosion, Torch and Teleport.
Mythic - any horse you ride can fly as if they were a Pegasus.
Siren - heal when drowning instead of taking damage.
Demon - heal when burning instead of taking damage.
Shapeshifter (donator only) - disguise as any mob, block, or player you find.

There's loads more magic items in addition to these powers, including terraforming, buff spells, conjuration magic... There's loads to pick from! Just check in your Book of Knowledge which you'll receive upon joining.

Towny is used to create protections. Check out our guide books in /help to learn all about Towny.

And what if something outside a protection gets griefed? We'll fix that as soon as possible for you using block logs - protections are just there to make it so you can protect yourself, but even if you do get griefed, we'll fix it for you!

I used to play on here all the time, but looks like during my time away from this game, alot has happened to this server. I hope it's a temporary down, but considering the last ping was nearly 2 weeks ago at this point, it doesn't look good. If anybody sees this and has an update, that would be appreciated!

If you die in one world .. and switch to vanilla.. you get nothing. members are rude, don't even answer questions. was not a pleasent experience.    For vanilla you could at least have /back .
