SERVER WILL ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!

Okay, this is a big one, please read the whole thing! Please note, the Last Days texture pack is HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended, as the map was built using the pack and it will look quite odd without it.

Roleplay Armageddon is a role-play (and I mean REAL role-play) server that takes place in a post-nuclear war environment, hence the title. If you do not like playing as a character, I would suggest leaving now.

Within this world, your goal is to watch your back, and, using any means necessary, survive. The world is harsh out there, and you just want to make it through to see humanity reclaim the earth after the harsh nuclear warfare... or not. Perhaps you are pure evil and would stop at nothing to see the absolute end of the world entirely. It's all up to you.

Within the playing area, the survivors of the war (that includes you :D) have crawled out from whatever shelter you used and now are banding together and choosing you friends and enemies. Two powerful *factions* have emerged and now it's up to you what to do about it. All in all, you have 4 options from the get-go:

Option 1: Join the Black Eagles
The Black Eagles are a faction of simple survivors who are thanking whatever gods they worship that they made it and now are trying to struggle through the rough environment together. They avoid making enemies when possible, and are supporters of peace in the new world. This faction is led by Jack Baker (houndoomdude- me!)

Option 2: Join the Hellion Knights
The Hellion Knights have very large, very intense ideas. They don't see the new, ruined world as a disaster- they see it as an opportunity. They are rather fearless, and know that their attitudes are rare. They take advantage of the other (and in their eyes, weaker) people and dominate with force. Ultimately, beyond survival, their goal to conquer the new world and destroy all who stand in their way. This faction is led by Coba Nassi (rushluva)

Option 3: Create your own faction
Perhaps you really like the idea of working in a group, but the 2 main factions don't appeal to you. You always have the option to create your own faction. However, this requires lots of responsibility, and stricter role-play rules will be enforced for faction leaders. If you do create your own faction, you can find a suitable base of operations and set up camp there, but keep in mind, you won't be able to build it!

Option 4: Work independently
You may not want to worry about being backstabbed or having other mouths to feed. If this is the case, you can always choose to work independently. This is both a blessing and a curse. As an independent survivor, your role-play rules do not require you to be loyal to anybody. Therefore, you can be your own man, and pvp will most likely be allowed within your role-play restrictions. However, this also means that you may have to travel from base to base by night, and to get materials by schmoozing or bartering with members of factions who already have access to these things. This is because independent workers will NEVER GET THE OPTION TO BUILD OR DESTROY. Keep that in mind.

*Please note that by "factions" I simply mean groups you travel in (no factions mods or plugins), to allow for more options when it comes to life-threatening situations or in case you want to turn your back on your group.*

Role-play Rules/Violations

Role-play is taken very seriously on this server. As your character, it is your duty to play as that character and not as somebody playing on a Minecraft server. You must only do things that make sense for your character to do. Playing out of character or doing something that doesn't make sense for your character to do will be considered a role-play violation. If you receive 5 penalties for role-play violations (subject to change), you WILL be kicked from the server. Get another three, and it's a permanent ban.

Here is an example of role-play versus non role-play:

Role-play: You are trapped in a shelter with your friend, who you are in an alliance with. You are starving to death and you desperately need food. Your friend pulls out a cooked porkchop (he is starving as well and won't give you any food), and you leap in and kill him with a sword, then proceed to eat his pork and pick up his remaining food and items (he's dead; he doesn't need his items anymore!)

Non role-play: You are trapped in a shelter with your friend, who you are in an alliance with. You have 3 cooked porkchops in your inventory, and you are doing well on hunger. You are saving up for a collection of food so that you will never go hungry. Your friend pulls out a cooked porkchop, and you, wanting to expand your food collection, leap in and kill him with a sword, then proceed to steal his pork and pick up his remaining food and items (he's dead; he doesn't need his items anymore!)

The vital difference here is the life-or-death situation. If your life is threatened, it is considered role-play to put yourself before your friends. Although, keep in mind that this may break off your alliance.

Certain people will be held to stricter role-play rules than normal players. These people are...

Administrators:
You have a lot of power. Don't abuse it.

Faction Leaders:
You have a group to lead. That means you will have to be role-playing harder than before.

Collectors (people with the ability to build/destroy):
Big power comes with big responsibility. In addition to having to do many jobs for your faction, this also means that you cannot use your power whenever you want to. Only use breaking/placing if it makes sense for your roleplay, or it WILL be counted as a violation, and a serious one.

In game, if you ABSOLUTELY MUST speak out of character, I ask that you please do it using double parentheses. Example: ((Out of character speech))

Building/Destroying
This power is limited to a select few. First of all, administrators all have this ability for helping purposes. In addition, there are certain other people who can do this as well. These people are called collectors, and there is one per faction. Collectors are assigned by faction leaders, who cannot break/build themselves (except in the case of the 2 main factions). Collectors are responsible for mining as well as wood collecting, sprucing up their base, and breaking into enemy territory. All in all, it is a very powerful tool, and you must use it responsibly with your role-play.

Locations.
There are 3 major locations in the new, post-apocalyptic world. I will list them now.

The Wasteland
The wasteland is a big, ruined, desert with patches of grass and trees bordering it. It is rather barren and littered with acid, dead plants, and radiation. Areas of interest:

The Bunker: The bunker is a not-so-safe haven, and it also happens to be *cough cough* the spawn point. THERE IS NO BLOCK-BREAKING AND NO PVP IN THE BUNKER WHATSOEVER. In the bunker, you can get your bearings straight and meet some new people. Also, there is a shopping area where aspiring merchants can go to sell their wares (it's called the "center of commerce").

Houses/Safehouses:
Believe it or not, the Wasteland used to be a thriving neighborhood. Now it is down to ruin and rubble, but you can still see the occasional destroyed house, and if you're lucky, you may find some loot there! Also, there are several safehouses built after the nuclear war (World War III, by the way) that were designed for overnight protection, and that's exactly what you can use them for.

The Acid Colosseum:
It's not actually anything like a Colosseum. Really, it's more of a large pit filled with acid at the bottom and metal plates stretching across. Brain-damaged and highly-bored survivors created it as a primitive sport, where two fools will stand on metal plates and try to knock each other off. Pitiful. If you want to try, find another dim-wit and have fun!

The Crags
The Crags were hit hard by the nuclear attacks, stripping the land down to nothing but barren, rocky hills. Genetically altered trees grow here, so if you are a collector, it is a good place to go for wood or stone (not normal stone; it's netherrack!) Areas of interest:

The Base of the Black Eagles: This place is impenetrable by the normal person, and a lower-ranking member of the Black Eagles has to count on another member being there to even get in! It is a simple living space, with a conference room for battle/survival plans, living quarters, and a pathetic attempt at a cafeteria.

The Base of the Hellion Knights: This base is highly dangerous and intimidating. The Hellion Knights designed it that way. It includes a lava moat, living spaces, eating space, and a battle practicing area. It, also, is normally impenetrable.

The Pit: At the very entrance to the crags, there is an in explicable gap cutting straight through the land, with an oh-so-inviting acid pool at the bottom. There is a surprisingly elegant bridge for crossing The Pit, although, due to its rickety and unsafe nature, many people hoping for a fight will battle on the bridge and attempt to knock others off, similar to the Acid Colosseum.

The City
First of all, many, many thanks to KnownTheRanger for letting me use his Soft Shore City map as The City area. Check out his map, and his others, too. They're amazing!

The City was forced underground and buried under soft earth after the explosions. This was actually The City's savior. It was recently unearthed in earth-shatteringly (no pun intended :D) good condition, although it is beaten up and torn apart. The City is now uninhabited, but an entrance was carved from the wall of a building, and now many people enter it to explore and mourn. There are several newly erected shops scattered around, and it is a good place for Merchants to go.

Please note: Nobody is allowed to mine materials from buildings in the city (or any other man-made structures for that matter) for resources. Doing so is considered to be a huge role-play violation and will be dealt with severely.

Whitelisting

This is a whitelist server, simply to avoid people going on without understanding the server. I will accept your whitelist as soon as possible. Fill out the following application form and post it in the comments!

IGN (in-game name): This is your normal Minecraft username. Make sure you use the correct caps!
Character name: This is, obviously, the name of your character.
Character description: Just give me a little bio about your character.

Example application:
IGN: houndoomdude
Character name: Jack Baker
Character description: Jack was a veteran from World War III, but ended up having to hide out in the middle of nowhere. He managed to live on cave rats and cave water for about a year, and finally he came out into the open. He formed the Black Eagles out of fear of braving the new world alone.

Okay, please sign up for my server, I'm very excited to play with you once the server is released in 3-4 days!

Special thanks to TheOtter, for making the Star Wars Unlimited server that inspired me; it's a shame that it had to be taken down.

Additional Notes

A Minecraft heavy roleplay post-apocalypse survival server!

Character Name: Issac Lockett

Character Description: Issac was a nice man working in the nineteenth floor of an apartment building as a engineer. When the building began to collapse Issac fled to the basement in worry of death. the building collapsed leaving him trapped in the dark murky basement. For several months he had been trapped in the basement, scavenging what he could for food. Finally he found something he hadn't seen in a long time in the basement. He had seen an old drill. Using the drill and his bare hands he dug out of the basement and saw the (mostly) uninhabited wasteland. Since that day Issac has dedicated his life on trying to find other survivors trapped or in need of help.

Character name: Joshua "Tinman" Rivers

Character Description: Joshua was a part of a research team testing the pressure levels on a prototype survival suit at the bottom of a dam when the bombs dropped. Luckily for him, the blast was mostly cushioned by the water around him. Unluckily for him, it knocked him out, and the suit's pressure sensors sealed him inside before malfunctioning. Several hours later he was awakened by the sound of his Geiger counter ticking rapidly. He climbed out of the dam via service ladder to find his entire research area completely destroyed. He activated his loudspeaker to find it had been ruptured and now emitted a groaning shriek that reminded him of two metal plates being rubbed underwater. He turned on his helmet mic to discover that, thankfully, he could still talk albeit not very quietly. Having no other alternatives, he gathered what supplies he could use and headed off into the wastes, praying that someone else was still alive...

P.S. Hello! I have some experience with Roleplaying but most of the other places either godmod or don't follow the rules. This doesn't seem to be the case here. I like the feel of the place from what I've read, and it seems very mature and realistic. A few notes on my character are that I don't expect any special perks, it's a survival suit, not power armor, not a tank mech. He eats by placing his food in a compartment on his side, from which the nutrients are extracted and delivered through intravenous tubes on the inside of the suit. He can't leave the suit at any time due to the damaged pressure sensors, and any waste he produces is recycled into system power. Prior to the war he lived alone but retains his sarcastic sense of humor and vague optimism. "Tinman" is distrusting at first but once befriended is more loyal then anyone can ask for. He's the kind of guy that uses his atmospheric conditioners to radiate heat for fellow survivors when it's cold and vents cold air when it's hot. In Battle he's known to turn his loudspeaker on to demoralize and charges in to protect his group. Please whitelist me I hope very much to be a part of this community!

Character description: Jason was a survivalist of the 21st century. He sat at a desk every day writing. It was like hell on earth. He was a fiction writer. He was big time and so was his life. He hated all of it. He loved his work but the business aspect was taking it all out of him. When the bombs hit all of that went away. He hid for months until he thought it was safe. He scared himself to death that mutants had taken over his world like in a previous story he wrote "End of Days". He felt as if he was the main character who was fighting for his life. One thing he knew for sure was that there were gangs. He heard them ride by everyday but never dared of going out into the open. He needed to survive and write. He wrote down everything going on. He knew that this would be important to the future and he could not wait to share it.
