Arcadius, or Arkadios (Ἀρκάδιος) was a Byzantine and Eastern Roman emperor of the 4th century. He ruled the Eastern Half while his brother, Honorius, ruled the Western. During his reign, the Ostrogoths under Gainas and Visigoths under Alaric I rebelled and sought to overtake Constantinople. Both were managed due to interception from non-Roman parties. He also exiled John Chrysostom for comments made to his wife but riots prompted him to reinstate Chrysostom.
