I haven't skinned in a while and I know this is quite messy. Hopefully I'll get the chance to work some more with it before the contest ends but I quite liked the theme and wanted to get my idea and skin out there.
Concept and whatnot
Bakeneko are considered to be quite common and powerful yōkai in several Japanese fairy tales, folktales, and mythos. Simply put, they are cats who transform into yōkai at some point during their life. They begin as typical house cats, and eventually they start to walk on their hind legs and grow; many reaching the size of a standard human or larger.
Bakeneko possess many great traits and abilities, which include:
• Shape-shifting and disguising themselves as smaller cats or even humans.
• Putting towels on their heads whilst disguised and dancing around merrily.
• Placing curses on their owners, mostly cruel ones.
• Speaking human languages.
• Possessing humans.
• Setting things on fire.
