Marilyn Straus was enrolled into a course in college where she would be able to go to many different places to study biology and to watch as doctors of all sorts lead her through their days at work. One day she made her way to a particular hospital that made her stomach drop.

When she got into the building, she was given a shot to 'prevent the lice from getting to her'. Yet, she began to itch all over, and soon she started noticing her skin becoming pale and sickly. She was given a hospital bed as a result, 'just in case she got any sicker' so the doctors could keep an eye on her condition.

Days later she began to throw up blood, and it began to ooze from her body. Her fingers became sharp, and her irises became large and dark. She saw everything in a new light, and couldn't help but notice how hungry she was becoming...

This is when Mary noticed she was now a patient, rather than a doctor-to-be. A lab rat, really, when she was pushed from her cell-like room into an open area where others, with conditions better or worse than hers, gathered.

Survival of the fittest. And Bloody Mary would be damned if she didn't win.
