Back story:

Though no one knew where Gale Marit called home, people knew plenty of legends he helped write. one such tail was a fears battle where he and fellow pirates fought to protect a local outpost from a gang of terrifying Reapers, for his bravery and devotion to the "Golden Sands Outpost" he was invited to join a secret league of pirates devoted to predicting the sea of thieves.

however....

it appears that Gale took a foreboding trip to the underworld to rescue a forgotten soul.... but it seems he made a sacrifice, so that he could live again... in a new world... in a new body...
