Constantine X Doukas

Constantine, or Konstantinos (Κωνσταντῖνος) X Doukas (Δούκας) was a Byzantine and Eastern Roman emperor of the 11th century. He was the founder of the Doukid Dynasty following the collapse of the Macedonian Dynasty and the usurpation of Isaakios Komnenos. His reign was poor with losses of territory to the Normans and Bulgarians and a loss in battle against the Seljuks. He, like several emperors, was an intellectual who indulged in philosophical and theological discussion and thus his financial support was directed away from the army and decreased its efficacy.
