Derek had just managed to gaze over the side of the cliff. His position was under fire by enemy Plasma Artillery. The Loren were closing in on him. The rest of his platoon was dead. His Beam-Rifle ran out of charge, and he was stuck with an old Blaster-Pistol that he scavenged off of a dead Loren.

Right before his eyes, his home city, the Mezerulian Capital, was being Glassed by the Loren Mothership. They had been in this war for 4 whole years, and they had finally closed in on the city. Hope was lost. Derek heard footsteps behind him. He heard a gun being cocked and placed behind his head.

"This is the end." A voice said.

I'm a terrible story teller... I know.

So this is my contest entry. The story had a bunch of small references. I took Glassing from Halo, from where the Covenant would use heavy plasma weapons to destroy the surface of a planet.

Loren came from a book called Lorien Legacies. The name comes from the 'Loric', which I changed to 'Loren', which is actually the planet that they come from.

I will be sure to update this in the near future, add some Alts in the description, and even more.
