The assistant began preparing for the experiment that could either end in a disaster or miracle. The last experiment that would ever be conducted. He grabbed a variety of utensils, as well as bandages, cream and whatever he could get his hands on. Nothing could fail, or he would live every day, regretting his own existence. He laid his beloved master on the table, picked up a syringe and plunged it into his fair skin. The master shook, until he eventually fell into a deep sleep, and thus the experiment begun.

A few hours later...

The assistant sat impatiently, waiting for his master to awaken. He watched as his right fingers and toes, formed into long claw-like objects. The bags around his eyes turned grey and dull, but the left side of his body appeared to be unaffected. Suddenly, his master awoke with a fright, quickly snapping through the chains as if they were made of string. He opened his eyelids to reveal eyes that looked as if they were staring into his soul. Beady, black eyes. The master crawled back, scared of the supposedly unfamiliar human before him. He raised his claws, preparing to defend himself against the 'predator', but he wasn't quick enough at delivering death. The door burst open, and before he could see who had entered, he ran off, into the dark cave. He stepped on circular objects, implanted into the soft soil. The objects exploded and a sharp pain shot throughout his body, ripping the side of his coat and fatally injuring his right side. He was knocked onto the ground. He moved his arms slightly, attempting to push himself up from the cold floor, but the attempt was deemed useless. His now weak and feeble body refused to support itself. Ignoring the pain, he rolled onto his side, before being consumed by darkness.


When he awoke, he looked around, taking note of the cobwebs and dust scattered everywhere. The blood had now dried, and his wounds seemed infected. It was then when he wondered what day it was. He heaved himself up, holding onto the wall as he stumbled around in the darkness. After a while, he saw light, and immediately changed his course. Upon arrival at the source of this light, he spotted huge beasts with spiked clubs, guarding their treasures as if it were their kin. Although they looked like they could eat someone his size, he continued, determined to survive. The beasts growled and whispered in his presence, circling the frightened man - well, if that's what you could call him. One of the larger ones walked forward, examining the man. He turned to face the others, and gave them an assuring gesture. The rest all slowly crept forward, acknowledging the man before them. One by one, they bashed their weapons onto the ground - as if to welcome him to their abode. The master stuttered, confused as to what they were doing, until they spoke, that is.

They spoke in a foreign language, yet he could understand it, and speak it. They asked him questions, from why his eyes had no pupil to why he smelt like both human and troll. He answered them all, only sharing a few lies, for if they knew he had done this to himself, he was not sure what would become of him. He told them of his great adventures, and how all he had wanted was to settle down and live a peaceful life. After hearing his inspiring words, they made a proposal. He could stay, and live a peaceful life, on one condition. To teach them. Not anything specific, just education in general. Obviously, he agreed.

So yes, he lives underground with them trolls because of the situation.
