Lyssa was 15 when it struck. Nobody alive remembers it, because none of the ones who saw it are alive anymore, or are so badly damaged they can't remember anything anyway. It wasn't a bomb, they know that much. And it wasn't from Earth.
Lyssa was close to ground zero, but far enough that it didn't kill her immediately. She received a nasty wound on her arm, and went blind from the flash. She slowly lost control of her body, and fell unconscious. She died, but her body did not rot. A pink solid-liquid oozed from her wounds and eyes. Her mouth fused shut.
Nobody knows why, but that thing that lives in her stays in small dark areas, mostly closets or pantries. It has killed forty people. Only three lived long enough to report what they saw. Or almost didn't see. Either way, all of them bled pink ooze, instead of blood, and all of them died before they could make it to the hospital. The bodies disappeared after a number of minutes, and left pink dust in their place. Scientists are currently studying this dust, though it will be long before they know what it is.
My story isn't so good, but I think the skin looks nice. Diamond and vote if you like it! I'm trying to get at least top 100, though I probably won't. Also, any and all feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!
