Back in January 2014, Minecraft skins gained a hat layer. In June of that year, I used the in-game armor textures to make overlays for players to use on their Minecraft skins. My post had several issues:
I cannot recommend using these as your base skin. Please overlay them on top of another skin.
Please let me know if I've missed anything or if there is an issue.
All skins from this post were created using official textures.
I hold no ownership nor artistic credit over the textures used.
Edit: There is a known bug [MC-100929] that causes boots and chestplate shoulders to render with the pixels squished. This may affect how believable this skin overlay appears for others. Having a hat layer on your original skin may also make the armor less believable, as it will appear on the same level as the armor.
- The uploaded skin file was corrupted, so the base layer was white, rather than transparent. This meant that the skin did not work as intended. Half a year later, I noticed and replied with a comment containing a functioning version.
- I only produced a diamond variation, so it was suggested a couple years later that I produce a version for each armor type. While I posted versions for gold, iron, and chainmail, I didn't feel comfortable trying leather, since the base texture for leather is white, and color (such as the default, brown color) is added in-game. On top of that, I wasn't sure how to approach the additional brown layer that's used on the cap, pants, and boots to distinguish its dyed variations from other types of armor.
- I didn't work to fix my post.

If you're asking if it works, that would depend on what you're trying to do with it.
I wanted to do that, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it look right. Overlaying a layer of brown removed some of the contrast.
If you use the skins in the main post, you may notice that turning off all hat layers in-game leaves you with pants/leggings that are flat against your Minecraft skin. This is because the actual armor in-game has the pants on in inner layer in comparison to the tunic/chestplate and the boots, so I had to put them on the base skin layer. If you just want to use the pants/leggings, here they are as a hat layer:
Note: These don't work with the full armor overlays from the main post because they'd be on the same layer as the tunic/chestplate and the boots. They work with the cap/helmet if you don't mind copying that from the main post.
Edit: Here's the Imgur album containing all of the skin overlays from the main post and this comment.
Let me know if this doesn't work.
