Have you ever wanted to be strapped to a pole with the sun constantly beating down on you? Well, now you can with this Rainbow Bar & Grill sign! At least you'll look beautiful. The Rainbow Bar & Grill was established in 1972 at 9075 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, California. The Rainbow became known as a hangout for rock musicians and their groupies. It is still in operation today and is just down the street from the popular rock club, Whiskey a Go Go. Before becoming the Rainbow, the restaurant was the Villa Nova restaurant, which was originally owned by film director Vincente Minnelli, at the time married to Judy Garland. Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe met at the restaurant on a blind date in 1952.The rock band Rainbow formed by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple was named after this restaurant. The Rainbow is where record producer Kim Fowley met drummer Sandy West to form the all-girl rock band The Runaways with Joan Jett, and later, Lita Ford.

The Whiskey a Go Go was featured in Grand Theft Auto V as the Tequi-la-la.
