I wonder why most of PMC users prefer a basic skin model with slightly different color toner than original, detailed skins like the one you, me and many other skin makers publish regularly

It's all about preference really innit, 'human' skins are very approachable by everyone and with personas and OCs its easier to reimagine yourself as the 'ideal' person. scifi fantasy while not a small minority at all is very much a niche, and crazy faces and unique designs are harder to project yourself onto. you can tell by someones profile pic whether they like one or the other in most cases, i have a skeleboi profile pic and you'll find i make a fair few monstery things, though i do regularly delve into more human designs.

Niche interests will rarely garner as much attention, of course there are plenty of amazing people who make outstanding stuff thats not a bog standard person, but they also display such immense skill where the subject matter becomes a lot less relevant.

I see, and you just describe it all in an accurate way. Yeah, people prefer skins that looks more like them than an specific character. The good thing is that your most loyal subscribers will always appreacite those very special skins you make
