Contest Theme
Steampunk! Chosen by the PMC community contest poll.
The theme of this contest will be nsteampunk and related characters. If you are unsure what steampunk nmeans, here is a brief description:
Steampunk is a sub-genre of nscience fiction, fantasy, alternate history, and speculative fiction nthat came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s. Steampunk ninvolves a setting where steam power is still widely usedo usually nVictorian era Britaino that incorporates elements of either science nfiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic ntechnology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned nthem, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, narchitectural style, art, etc. This technology may include such nfictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules nVerne.
Other examples of steampunk contain alternative nhistory-style presentations of such technology as lighter-than-air nairships, analog computers, or such digital mechanical computers as nCharles Babbage and Ada Lovelace's Analytical engine.
