For this contest, I choose to create a character based off of theme #1. I came up with this character as an NPC for a small little roleplay I did a few years ago, with Mr. Morgan being the character I played. The shading on the skin isnt the best, but I tried. Anyway, on with the story!

Elizabeth Morgan was once the daughter of a wealthy businessman whose wife had long since passed. They lived in a manor that overlooked a small town tucked in between the peaks of a mountain range. Elizabeth was rather shy and preferred the company of the ravens that resided in the forests surrounding her home. Often when she had a break from her tutors she would go onto a balcony and feed them, fantasying about flying amongst the clouds with her dark friends.

Mr. Morgan loved Elizabeth very much, as she reminded him of his late wife. But alas, he was a man poisoned by greed and jealousy. To sate his lust for power, he kept a large collection of books dealing with magic. He bought every grimoire, tome, scroll he could find, seeking to open a portal to another world and channel its power into himself.

When he did succeed in opening a gate to another realm, it came at a cost. The ritual backfired and instead killed Elizabeth, draining all life-force from her body. She was buried in the family cemetery, with a stone angel watching over her grave. And if you looked, you would see at least one raven perched on it at all times.

   Losing his daughter was something Mr. Morgan couldn’t handle, knowing that it was his quest for arcane power had caused her death. Driven mad with guilt and grief, he began to toy with darker magic. Not just repeating the spells in his books but experimenting on his own.

He concocted a spell that would bring his daughter’s lifeforce back from the other world. He performed the spell in the cemetery. And, knowing that his daughter wouldn’t be able to return to her body, forced her soul into the angel that stood over her grave. And it worked! After so much effort he had finally brought his back from the grave!

   But Mr. Morgan was rather careless when he gathered the ingredients for his spell and caught the attention of a local group of do-gooders (the others in the roleplay. If you haven’t guessed yet, I was basically the villain) They attempted to stop him in the cemetery, but Elizabeth in her new stone body protected him.

   For a while Elizabeth aided her father in his efforts to destroy the heroes. But as happens in stories with happy endings, he eventually was slain in a confrontation with them. Mr. Morgan may have died, but Elizabeth was cursed to live on forever. Now she roams the ruined halls of the manor and stalks the overgrown forests, standing watch over her raven friends as they once stood watch over her. She weeps, for she knows that even though she now has wings, she cannot fly away with them.
